Five truths of Bhagavad Gita : Aniruddha dasa

Karma and reincarnationTitle: Five truths of yoga : Aniruddha dasa
Date: Thursday, Jul 15 2010
Time:06:30 PM till 08:30 PM

Event Fee : $5, includes vegan dinner

Have you heard of ancient yoga texts – specially the Bhagavad Gita, a world classic of yoga and meditation. This summer we have with us a very experienced and realized Bhakti Yogi who joins us all the way from down under for a power packed workshop presenting the ‘Five truths of Bhagavad Gita’. He has been studying and presenting this ancient knowledge of Bhagavad Gita for over 3 decades at Universities, corporations, yoga centres and many other institutes across Australia, India and United States. Now is your chance to hear from him right here in Canada.

The subject of the Bhagavad-gītā entails the comprehension of five basic truths. First of all, the science of God is explained and then the constitutional position of the living entities, jīvas. So in the Bhagavad-gītā the subject matter deals with the īśvara, the supreme controller, and the jīvas, the controlled living entities. Prakṛti (material nature) and time (the duration of existence of the whole universe or the manifestation of material nature) and karma (activity) are also discussed. The cosmic manifestation is full of different activities. All living entities are engaged in different activities. From Bhagavad-gītā we must learn what God is, what the living entities are, what prakṛti is, what the cosmic manifestation is, how it is controlled by time, and what the activities of the living entities are.

Explore the secrets of Karma and go beyond the chic definitions into the ancient knowledge of the east to discover the healing powers of these ancient truths.

A delicious vegan dinner will await you towards the end of the enlightening discussion.

Since time immemorial, the mysteries of the mind, its powers and tricks has enchanted philosophers, thinkers, saints and scientists alike. Mind and its powers have long been underestimated. Just recently modern science has started to acknowledge the killer powers of the mind. Doctors now formally recognize mind as the cause of several diseases.

Rarely do we realize that most of our actions are driven solely by the independent direction of the mind. Mind traps us here in this world of duality, but if we know a few tricks, this very mind can be the cause of experiencing freedom and unlimited happiness. But what are these tricks ?

Join us this month for a 4 part series, every Friday, unveiling the powers of the mind :

1. Session 1 – Conscious, sun-conscious and the unknown
2. Session 2 – Looking into past and the future lives
3. Session 3 – Mind, the source bed of mystic powers

There is no specific dress code. We just ask that guests dress tidily, with your unique flair of course. Don’t be surprised to see some of the staff dressed in the traditional dhoti and sari garments of ancient India.
The Krishnafest experience
Krishna Fest at UrbanEdgeYoga is pretty cool. The atmosphere is comfortable, friendly and non-threatening. Feel free to ask any question. You may be surprised to get profoundly satisfying answers to questions you never thought answerable. Or, if you are just curious, that’s okay too. Don’t be shy; many first time adventurers come to Krishnafest every week.
Would you like to know more?
The Krishna literature teaches that we are not our external material body; nor are we the endlessly restless mind. Instead, we are a spiritual being of pure consciousness. The nature of pure consciousness is to be continuously happy. However, our consciousness is currently masked by the mind and body. Just like dust covering a mirror. All activities at Krishnafest help to gradually wipe the dust off the mirror and reveal the true happiness that lies beneath. Try it, see for yourself and taste the bliss.
