Rushing through our busy lives, at every step we try to carve out a passage through this jungle of never-ending sounds we live in. Perhaps in those precious quiet moments you may have wondered what it means to be happy and at peace. Perhaps you have contemplated meditation and yoga to re-connect within yourself to experience happiness.

This workshop will present possibilities about how we can expand our pleasure beyond our present limitations. It will demonstrate how inner happiness can be experienced immediately by anyone, through the mystical power of transcendental sound vibrations.

A delicious Vegan dinner and Kirtan for all guests towards the end of the discussion.

Join us this Monday, as we welcome our esteemed guest, a traveling monk and Bhakti Yogi Candramauli Swami, who will present to us the most ancient and powerful technique of Mantra meditation. The sign of a great teacher is that he can simplify the most complex knowledge and present it in a form that we can all easily apply in our lives. Born in New Jersey,USA in 1947, Candramauli Swami came in contact with the ancient teachings of Bhagavad Gita in Denver,Colorado at the age of 24. Soon after he started practicing Bhakti Yoga under the care and guidance of AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.

Ever since he has been traveling to different parts of the world connecting with people and helping raise spiritual consciousness. This journey began in in Cincinnati and moved quickly to Columbus, and Boston. He has worked also towards uplifting Prison inmates to higher consciousness through several spiritual programs. At present, Candramauli Swami visits America,India,Western Europe; Slovenia,Croatia,Italy,Switzerland and the U.K. On Jul 19 we have the great pleasure of welcoming this internationally renowned personality at UrbanEdgeYoga. His realizations and knowledge has stirred the Yoga spirit in many hearts and he is here to inspire us and take us through guided meditations.

In our normal material lives we are busy in the matter of maximizing joy for our senses. Our days go by either speculating and dreaming about the objects of our desire or endeavoring very hard to acquire those very objects. Full blown advertising, glaring lights, billboards, changing fashions, exotic foods – there is so much out there to distract our minds and drive our senses crazy with the desire to acquire, creating an atmosphere of stress. Stress because most often there is a huge gap between our dreams, endeavors and the results. In such times when stress and anxiety rules our lives, Mind Control is a thing the intelligent few yearn for.

Do not forget the delicious Vegan Dinner and dessert that awaits you after an inspiring session.

BBBS-Swami
‘I want my own space’ is not just a teenager’s cry but the call of everyone 5 years up to as old as it gets. A fight with someone or a broken heart could automatically translate to locking yourself up but if it gets too unbearable to deal with yourself in isolation, the easy fix is to drown oneself into alcohol. If depression becomes overwhelming, you can always pop-in a ‘happy pill’. As time goes by we learn to confidently tell our friends, just leave me alone and I will fine. Are we really ever alone or are we just forgetting to acknowledge the presence of Mr. lonely who gets to witness our darkest moments.

Join us this Krishna fest for an insightful workshop with our visiting Monk and speaker BB Bhagvat Swami. He has been practicing ancient eastern traditions for approximately 3 decades, and is the founder and director of several schools of yoga knowledge in India, Africa and several other countries.

The Krishna literature teaches that we are not our external material body; nor are we the endlessly restless mind. Instead, we are a spiritual being of pure consciousness. The nature of pure consciousness is to be continuously happy. However, our consciousness is currently masked by the mind and body. Just like dust covering a mirror. All activities at Krishnafest help to gradually wipe the dust off the mirror and reveal the true happiness that lies beneath. Try it, see for yourself and taste the bliss.

Fire of desire – With BhaktiMarga Swami

fire of desire

Title: Fire of desire – With BhaktiMarga Swami
Location: Urbanedgeyoga, 324 Bloor St W
Date: Thursday, Jan 21 2010
Time: 6:30 PM till 8:30 PM

Description: “Do what you feel is best for you?” is the new age mantra for the 21st century. The goal of the mantra is to acquire the object of desire and attain the much sought after destination of happiness and eternal joy. However we all know that it’s not as simple as it seems – desires and fire have much in common. The more you feed it, the more it burns. Join us for a dynamic presentation and spiritual insights with Bhaktimarga Swami to explore the nature of desire and learn some ancient yoga tricks on taming the ‘Fire of desire’.

Bhaktimarga Swami, famous around the world as the ‘Walking Monk’ joins us Jan 21st for a thought-provoking discussion on the ‘Fire of desire’. He has been a monk for almost 4 decades and has done pioneering work in using arts and theatre for spiritual development.

It was a youthful quest for life that led Ontario-born Bhaktimarga Swami, to adopt an Eastern order of monastic life. He achieved a remarkable feat in 1996 when he went the way of a pilgrim and walked on foot cross country from west to east going full circle. Since then he has walked across Canada 2 more times and also several countries like Ireland, Guyana and Fiji. He likes to share his unique experience and fond memories on the road. He is a consistent feature in “The Longest Road”, a recent documentary.
